Cwmbach Llechryd

From Encyc
Church of St John Divine

Cwmbach Llechryd is a village on the Dulas Brook, split between two parishes in Powys, Wales. Its north-western half is in Disserth and Trecoed, and its south-eastern half is in Llanelwedd. Both sides were part of the historic county of Radnorshire. It is also spelt as Cwmbach Llechrhyd, or known simply as Cwmbach.

Cwmbach Llechryd is a possible location of a battle at "Llech-y-Crau" or "Llychcrei" during the late 1080s between Rhys ap Tewdwr and Bleddyn ap Cynfyn's sons. Another possible location is Llechryd Bridge in Ceredigion.[1]

Cwmbach Llechryd also has a church, dedicated to St John Divine. The church is on the north-western side of the village, so is in the community of Disserth and Trecoed, but forms its own parish for religious purposes.[2][3]
