Encyc talk:References
As much as I dislike fancy code, I think it's wicked cool how reflist automatically numbers the references and makes it easy to jump back and forth from the text to the bottom of the page. I think it makes editing more difficult, but reading much easier. Avoiding its use would encourage writers, but punish readers. Emperor 05:37, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
- yep; that seems nice to me too..... seems like there are trade offs. maybe a wisywig is the way to go then, eventually, and theoretically. Wikademia
- Yes, probably down the line someday. Wikipedia is making noises of introducing one soon. Probably it will be some hyper-experimental MediaWiki version that no one else has any chance of getting to work.
- The current reflist need not be totally obtrusive. It's "cite news" and "cite web" templates that make things awful. So many extra words. Reflist works best with each reference being a one-liner, or a concise summary like traditional endnotes in printed works. Emperor 16:52, 1 December 2009 (UTC)
