Filioque

From Encyc

The Filioque is a concept in Christian theology that the Holy Spirit, part of the Trinity, comes from both the Father and the Son. It has been a point of conflict between Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy.[1]

Eastern Orthodox argue that the Nicene Doctrine says that the Holy Spirit comes from the Father.

Roman Catholics point to the addition of the word "filioque" (from the son) in several later documents. They content that it is a legitimate development of the doctrine.

Some Christians argue that focusing on the word filioque has limitations, because language cannot adequately describe everything.[2]
