Finland is a country in northern Europe. It was part of Sweden for a long time, then part of the Russian Empire. Following World War I and the Russian Revolution, it became independent. However, it is still considered part of Scandinavia.

Its capital is Helsinki. The official language is Finnish, which is one of the Finno-Ugric languages, totally different from other European languages.

A famous Finn is the composer Jean Sibelius.
