Johann Joachim Quantz

Johann Joachim Quantz (1697-1773) was a German flautist and composer.

After many years working for the King of Saxony and touring Italy, France and England, he became teacher to Frederick the Great and his court composer.

He composed over 300 flute concertos and much other flute music, and wrote a treatise on flute-playing.
