League of Nations

The League of Nations was an international organization and the precursor to the modern United Nations. It was formed in the aftermath of World War I, but was never joined by the United States. In the prelude to World War II, the League fell apart, unable to prevent the Italian invasion of Ethiopia or the Spanish Civil War.
