Llanwddyn is a village and former parish in the north-west of Powys, Wales. It was in the historic county of Montgomeryshire.[1] The village gets its name from a saint named Wddyn.[2]

The original village was destroyed by the creation of Lake Vyrnwy in the 1880s.[2] The village now exists just below the dam.[3]

The village is in decline. The school closed in 2009, and their football team had to fold in 2019 as they didn't have enough players. There is also a decrease in Welsh speakers.[4]
