Lower house

In political science the term lower house is used to refer to one of the two houses of legislators in a bicameral legislature.

The term "lower house" is historical. The Upper House of the United Kingdom's Parliament, is the House of Lords, and, until recent decades, every member of the aristocracy got to sit there.
