Montreal

Montreal is a city in the province of Quebec, Canada. It is on the St. Lawrence River, upstream from Quebec City. The majority of people there speak French.

It was originally settled by the French in the 1600s, where they encountered local Iroquois tribes. In the 1760s, during the French and Indian War, the British conquered Quebec, making further resistance at Montreal impossible.
