Moscow

Moscow is the capital of Russia, and the seventeenth most populous city in the world. It is located at the center of an inland water system that connects the Baltic Sea with the Black Sea. The Kremlin, the seat of the Russian government, is located in Moscow. The population is around 10 million.

History

• 1812 - briefly occupied during French invasion of Russia
• 1941 - Axis troops come within sight of the city but can't conquer it
