Rhoose
Appearance
Rhoose is a village about 2 miles west of Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is the location of Cardiff Airport, the only commercial airport in Wales.
Rhoose is the southernmost village in Wales, and at Rhoose Point is the southernmost point in mainland Wales. (Flat Holm Island off the coast is further south)
In Welsh the village is called Y Rhws - both forms of the name originate from "y rhos" meaning "the moor".
Historically Rhoose was part of the parish of Penmark.[1] Since 1982 Rhoose has been a separate community in local government.[2]
