Sinai Peninsula

From Encyc

The Sinai Peninsula is a region of Egypt between the Suez Canal and the Israeli border. To the north is the Mediterranean and to the southeast and southwest it is surrounded by the Red Sea. It has a very dry, mountainous desert climate and a sparse population. There are resort towns along the Red Sea.

The Sinai desert figures prominently in the bible as the place Moses and the Israelites wandered for forty years following their exodus from Egypt.
