Submarine
A submarine is a naval vessel that is capable of travelling underwater. It is usually armed with torpedoes and missiles. Missiles can be used against nearby ships, and are capable of carrying conventional or nuclear warheads to land-based targets.
Submarines are fragile and can be easily destroyed by torpedoes, missiles, or artillery fire. They rely on stealth for protection, hiding deep in the water. Submarines use sonar and periscopes to detect their enemies.
Early submarines often had a deck gun, but these were eliminated as torpedoes improved and the needs for streamlining and noise reduction increased.
