Supermarine Spitfire
The Supermarine Spitfire was a British fighter plane famous for its role during World War II. Available just in time for the Battle of Britain, it had excellent climbing and handling characteristics, and a favorable loss exchange ratio vs. German Messerschmidts. It was also a very beautiful aircraft. The downside of the Spitfire was it was not particularly heavily armed, and it had limited range, making it a poor bomber escort.
The most common variant had a Rolls Royce Merlin Engine.
Spitfires were used after the war, notably in the Israeli War of Independence. Ezer Weizman had one that he painted black.
