Tavernspite
Appearance

Tavernspite is a village in Pembrokeshire, Wales. It is on the border with Carmarthenshire. In 2011 it had a population of 349.
The name comes from a corruption of "tafarn ysbyty" (hospice tavern). The village was first recorded in the 1700s. It has always been part of the parish/community of Lampeter Velfrey.
Tavernspite has been suggested as a "doubly thankful village", meaning that it lost no men in either World War. This was suggested because there is no war memorial in the village. However it has been found that Levi Thomas of Tavernspite died at Gallipoli in 1915.
