Telecommunication

From Encyc
Morse code operators used a metal key to send messages using sequences of dots and dashes

The term Telecommunication is used to refer to signals being transmitTed to convey a message.

In the 19th century railways laid wires beside their train tracks, and transmitted messages using Morse Code. Later, in the 19th century, the first undersea telecommunication cable was laid between North America and Europe.

In the late 20th century signal transmission was automated, and now very large amounts of data can be transmitted.

Signals broadcast by radio, to orbiting satellites, or between special relay towers, are considered a form of telecommunication. Large amounts of data is carried by telecommunication cables, which may use electronics, or light, to transmit data.
