USCGC Munro

From Encyc

USCGC Munro is a National Security Cutter, operated by the United States Coast Guard.[1]

In late December, 2025, and early January 2026, she followed, and later engaged in boarding, and capturing, a vessel believed to be part of Russia's "dark fleet" of tankers.[1][2]

According to Sal Mercogliano, a maritime commentator, the Munro' Coast Guard helicopter, while capable of search and rescue, was too small to lead a boarding action on a 300,000 supertanker.[1] His tracking suggested to him that the USS Lewis B. Puller was the right ship to assist, and, that when the tanker came close to the Lewis B. Puller, its larger helicopters carried additional troops to the boarding action.
