Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a country in eastern Europe that borders the Black Sea. It is north of Turkey and forms part of the Balkan peninsula. Bulgarians descend from a unique group of people from Central Asia.

Its capital is Sofia.

In the 19th century, Bulgaria broke away from the Ottoman Empire, but then oddly allied itself with it during World War I, and again stuck with Germany during World War II.
