Cereal
In agriculture the term cereal refers to any grain used for food.[1]
A distinguishing feature of cereals, compared with other food crops, is that they rely on the wind to distribute their pollen.[1] Fruits and vegetables rely on insects and other animals to distribute their pollen. Rice, wheat, barley, oats, millet, and maize are cereals. Crops, like Flax seeds, look like cereals, but are not cereals, as they come from a flowering plant.
Breakfast cereals are food products, breakfast food, called cereal because cereals are major ingredients.
