Gwnnws
Appearance

Gwnnws was a parish in Cardiganshire (now called Ceredigion), Wales. It was also called Llanwnnws or Llanwnws ("llan" means "church/parish"). It was made up of two detached townships:
- Gwnnws Isaf (Lower Gwnnws) - including Tynygraig and the parish church
- Gwnnws Uchaf (Upper Gwnnws) - including Pontrhydfendigaid, Ffair-rhos and Tanyrhydiau
In 1833 the parish had a total population of 919, about evenly split between the two townships.[1]
The two townships were also civil parishes in local government until 1987.[2] Gwnnws Isaf absorbed the separate civil parish of Ystrad Meurig in 1934.[3]
The parish church of St Gwnnws is located just west of Tynygraig.[4] The church dates to medieval times, but was restored in 1829, and again before 1878.[5]
Pontrhydfendigaid also has a church, dedicated to St David.[1]
