Jewelry

From Encyc

The term jewelry refers to decorative objects people wear on the body, or attached to their clothing.

Rings, bracelets and necklaces are worn around fingers, wrists and necks. Earrings are worn on an individuals ears. Some earings are attached in holes punches through parts of the ear. Some people pierce other body parts, including lips, nostrils and navels.

Broaches and other kinds of pins are attached to an individual's clothing.

Ancient people made jewelry from stone, wood or animal products, like ivory. While modern people sometimes wear jewelry made from plastic, the most valuable jewelry is made from precious metals, like silver, gold or platinum, and may be studded with precious gemstones, like rubies and diamonds.
