Llanbadarn y Garreg
Llanbadarn y Garreg was a parish in Powys, Wales. Historically it was in Radnorshire.
It is located about 7 miles east of Builth Wells, on the River Edw. The name comes from the church/parish (llan) of St Padarn by the stone (carreg).
It was a parish of around 900 acres, centred on the church, with a population of 98 being recorded in 1833. Its small size was unusual for such a rural upland area.[1][2]
St Padarn's Church is believed to date to the medieval period, with parts erected as early as the 13th century. Restoration followed in the 18th century and more extensively in 1928.[2] The church is still in use today.[3]
As a civil parish, and later community, it was abolished in 1983[4] and is now part of Aberedw community.
