Queen Victoria reigned as Queen of the United Kingdom, and Empress of the British Empire for 64 years.
Family legacy
[edit | edit source]Victoria bore 11 children, who, in turn, bore 42 grandchildren. Her descendants married into royal families of Germany, Denmark, Hesse, Russia, Schleswig-Holstein, Waldeck and Pyrmont, Battenberg, Spain, Greece, Romania, Sweden and Norway. European royal families to marry other royals made those individuals technically in-bred, and Victoria's genome contained several dangerous recessive diseases.
Cultural legacy
[edit | edit source]Victoria was seen as an example of behavior.
While modern commentators routinely characterize Victoria, and those who admired her, as socially and sexually conservative.
