Henllan Amgoed

From Encyc
St David's Church

Henllan Amgoed is a small village north-west of Whitland in Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is currently part of the community of Henllanfallteg, which was formed from Henllan Amgoed and Llanfallteg.

The name "Henllan" means "old church". Amgoed was the former commote the village was in. Henllan Amgoed was formerly known as "Llanddewi Henllan", meaning "the old church of St David".

In the past it was also a parish.[1] St David's Church has stood since the 13th century, though it was rebuilt around 1865. It is now closed.

Aberbanc National School was the local primary school until it was closed in 2004. Its pupils were transferred to Ysgol Bro Brynach in Llanboidy.[2]
