Appearance

Llangynwyd is a village in the Llynfi Valley just south of Maesteg, Wales. It is part of Bridgend county borough.
Llangynwyd was a parish, split into 4 townships:[1]
- Llangwnwyd Higher - Nantyffyllon, Caerau, Croeserw, Cymmer, Abergwynfi, Cynonville
- Cwm Du - Maesteg, Garth
- Llangynwyd Middle - Llangynwyd, Cwmfelin
- Llangynwyd Lower - Coytrahen
Llangynwyd Middle and Llangynwyd Lower still exist as communities today.
St Cynwyd's Church is believed to have been founded in the late sixth century by St Cynwyd. It has had much restoration since.[2] The church is at the centre of the old village up the hill "Top Llan". Today most of the village is on the river, to the east of the original village.
