Michaelchurch-on-Arrow

Michaelchurch-on-Arrow is a small village in Powys, Wales. It was historically part of Radnorshire and it is next to the border with England.
Michaelchurch-on-Arrow was a parish.[1] St Michael's Church dates to the 13th century and was mostly restored in 1869.[2] The village name comes from this church and its location on the River Arrow. The Welsh name Llanfihangel Dyffryn Arwy also means the same - St Michael's church (Llanfihangel) in the valley (dyffryn) of the Arrow (Arwy).
The church is now part of the Church of England parish of Michaelchurch with Brilley in the Diocese of Hereford, despite its location in Wales.[3]
It was formerly a community.[4] It was abolished in 1983 and is now part of Gladestry.[5]
There may have been a castle there. No evidence has been found, but multiple place names refer to a castle, and there were many castles in the surrounding area.[2]
