River Tanat
Appearance

The River Tanat (Afon Tanat or Tanad in Welsh) is a river in northern Powys, Wales. A small segment is in Shropshire, England.
It rises near Cyrniau Nod, north of Lake Vyrnwy. It then runs mostly east, past the villages of Llangynog, Penybontfawr, Llangedwyn and Penybont Llannerch Emrys. Then it forms a small segment of the England-Wales border, flows past Llanyblodwel, and forms another small part of the border. It returns to Wales to join the River Vyrnwy, near Llansantffraid-ym-Mechain.
Tributaries include the River Eirth (at Llangynog), the River Rhaeadr (near Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant), and the River Iwrch (just downstream from Llanrhaeadr).
